EPHEMERA ON PAPER

Ephemera on Paper  |  2013 - Present

These pieces are probably the opposite of The Crazies. Instead of adding whatever caught my attention, I tried to see how little I could use and still make the page feel finished. Vintage book and magazine pages, photographs, stamps, and other bits of aged paper became the artwork, with very little added beyond glue.

I love the muted colors, worn edges, old handwriting, and marks left behind by others. The challenge for me is in the composition—moving a few pieces around until they feel like they belong together, and then making myself stop. Sometimes leaving something out is harder than adding one more thing.
